Carrot disposable e-mail addresses

Carrot disposable e-mail addresses are special e-mail addresses which get forwarded to your normal mailbox, but which are fully in your control. You can give them out to companies, mailing lists and other people just like your usual e-mail address, but you can close them down with a single click, and/or impose conditions on how many times they are used, or how long they last.

Carrots

A Carrot can be thought of as a tiny digital coin which can be attached to an e-mail. If the CarrotMail software receives an e-mail with a Carrot attached, then (recognising that something of value has been sent), it will retain the Carrot for later use and pass on the e-mail to your inbox.

In the long term, once there are lots of people using CarrotMail, we expect exchanging Carrots to be the main way people protect themselves from spam, without having to bother with whitelisting, challenges etc. For most users this won't cost them anything, but it will make sending millions of spam economically impractical for spammers.
